Life on Vacation

As if my life was not busy enough, my family planned a vacation for the week of Labor Day. Surprise, I'm in Hawaii! Although this vacation has been nothing but amazing so far, I still have a few mixed feelings about traveling at my age. The first few days were filled with relaxing on the beach, trying exotic drinks and eating the local food. However, today is the day when it hit me that no matter how much planning you do before, I am at a time in my life where I will never be completely "responsibility-free" again. Between homework, bills, and life back home I have hardly had time to just relax and enjoy myself. It has been a reality that has hit me hard recently but I guess that is just another thing that comes with being twenty something.
Enough of my complaining and more about the trip. This is my first time going to Hawaii and I can honestly say that its everything that I expected and more. A simple walk down the street and you can see the most beautiful flowers and trees, and experience the most amazing weather. Don't even get me started about the beaches because I am actually worried they might have ruined any other beach for me. One of the most helpful things about this trip has actually been our phones. Although we have only been here for a few days, we have actually found the most amazing places off of Instagram. The location feature of Instagram is something that I never thought to use as a trip planner, and I really think it is the most underrated tool to use on vacation. As a twenty something, we are all very familiar with Instagram and other social media platforms, but I don't think we ever think about the usefulness of each in our daily lives. By simply searching a location, you can pull up thousands of posts from other people who tagged that location in a picture. We have used this several times already to find local food places with creative dishes and drinks, and hidden beaches we would have never known about. I plan to update this blog more this week as we find more places and continue on new adventures.
